Protection circuits VDE 0100 (module system complete)

BS 0.1 Transformer and house service connection
The Mains voltage for the training unit is supplied by an isolating transformer 230/230 V/AC with a power output of 200 VA.
A 1 A automatic circuit-breaker protects the installation from over-load and short-circuit.
The module includes an insulation monitoring device to interrupt the supply to the training equipment as soon as
one of the live conductors is connected to the ground of the training equipment or a module presents a short-circuit
toframe. After the removal of the fault, the moduleis ready for operation after it is turned on again.

BS 0.2 Earthing Resistors
This module includes all of the resistors required for the experiments.
Resistance values:
– Functional ground Rb: 2 Ohm / 14 W
– Protective ground Ra: 2.2 Ohm / 11W, 220 Ohm / 220 W,
820 Ohm / 7 W, 1660 Ohm / 34 W
– Potentiometer: 10k Ohm / 10 W
with series resistor: 6.8k Ohm / 7 W
– Insulation resistance Ri: 15k Ohm / 2 W, 47k Ohm / 2 W,
82 kOhm / 2 W, 220 kOhm / 2 W
Probe: 470 Ohm / 5 W

BS 0.3 Current-consuming equipment – „Filament lamp”
The module is supplied by way of the service cable with
grounding-type plug. The sockets located in parallel to the
lamp symbol are used for the production of short-circuits to
exposed conductive parts.

BS 0.4 Current-using equipment with body-contact resistors
In addition to the resistance of the current-consuming equipment,
2200 Ohm 25 W, this module includes the following body-contact resistance values selectable by positioning a connecting plug:
470 Ohm, 100 W / 2.2 kOhm, 17 W / 33 kOhm, 2 W.
The resistor 470 Ohm, 100 W, is protected by a thermostatic
switch. The operation of this switch is indicated by a signal lamp.

BS 0.7 Residual Current Device e.l.c.b.
The current-operated e.l.c.b. is sensitive to
direct current and has a conventional operating
current of 30 mA.

BS 0.8 Ground-leakage monitor
The fault to ground is indicated by a signal lamp.
After elimination of the fault to ground, the
normal function may be re-established by operation
of the pushbutton „Reset”. The pushbutton „Test”
is used for verifying the function of the equip-
ment.The sensitivity may be selected with a switch.

BS 0.9 Transformer
The module includes an extra-low voltage and an
isolating transformer. The mask specified below
represents the corresponding graphic symbol in
each case and covers the sockets which are not
required.
Primary: 230 V
Secondary: 230 V, 42 V, 24 V, 90 VA

BS 0.10 Model of the human body
By way of the incorporated electronic measuring circuit,
the occurrence of shock currents is indicated by a signal
lamp within the head of the model of the human body lighting up.
A value of I/M in excess of 20 mA with a permanent maximum
permissible touch voltage of 50 V AC is specified as a shock current.
A change-over switch allows to select a contact resistance of either 470 Ohm or 22 Ohm.
The incorporated resistors are protected by thermostatic switches. The operation of these switches is indicated by a signal lamp.

BS 0.12 Socket outlet without earth contact

BS 0.13 Current-using equipment Extra-low voltage
The front picture represents a model railway.
The voltage is indicated by an LED.
Supply voltage : 24 V AC.

BS 4.120 Mains socket with earthing contact
Mains socket in accordance with DIN 49440, 250 V AC, 16 A.
